Subterranean termites are social insects that live in colonies far underground where moisture is much more abundant. They travel to food (cellulose found in wood) above ground by constructing tubes made of soil called shelter tubes. As a homeowner you should be inspecting your investment for presence of termite activity (shelter tubes) particularly along the stem wall where the soil line meets the foundation. A good rule of thumb is to check it once in the spring and again near the end of our monsoon season, when termites are most active. If termite activity has been detected you’ll want to address and treat the infestation as soon as possible. The longer you leave untreated the more damage they can cause.
JCB treats against termites with Termidor. Termidor is the #1 defense against termites. It is highly effective. It “acts” as an “infectious disease”. When termites come in contact with Termidor they carry it back to the colony infecting the colony. The methods we use to treat termite infestations vary due to construction and infestation differences. Subterranean termite colonies are underground and in order to get Termidor under the foundation down drilling of the concrete every 18” abutting the structure is necessary. Trenching of the exterior soil areas abutting the structure is also performed which are 4” wide by 2” deep where concrete is not an issue. We can also use techniques such as soil rodding where we can inject Termidor into the ground of exterior areas where plants might be an issue. Interior methods vary and will be discussed at the time of inspection. JCB takes pride in leaving the work place clean and as unnoticeable as possible with all the methods of treatment being used.
Upon your FREE inspection our termite technician will educate you on all methods of treatment. As well as explaining our method of treatment, the length of warranty will also be discussed, and how you can renew your warranty after your treatment warranty has expired. Annual inspections will be performed during the warranty duration to ensure the work performed is effective. Here at JCB we know how valuable our home is to us not only from a monetary aspect but a family aspect as well. Let us protect your #1 investment!
